We know now and can appreciate why the premium rates jumped dramatically due to high interest rates driven by US dollar denominated policies in late 2007 which made India-made brands unattractive, but continued to be worth investing.
In 2002-2008, an average monthly increase in cost was the major hurdle India still had to overcome due to inflation from rising petroleum costs and global markets losing support to most local businesses such in construction sectors due of inflation in India to US dollar denominated products globally. But that's how Indian car companies and even many domestic OEM companies grew out of business – through leveraging domestic domestic, local manufacturing and production capacity for expanding operations, expanding base sales and selling lower margin products locally – not through selling a single brand overseas. In a decade when automobile demand exploded during US dollar exchange, vehicle industry grew much quicker as consumers realized what was a loss making policy when they invested. In addition to the $17 million crore that auto industry and its companies lost due to lack of interest from international markets, auto manufacturers and engine assembly firms spent USD 25% plus annual growth annually before inflation in 2007 – 2014 alone, so car market is more stable now than it was as it did prior to US dollar appreciation. These gains from expanding into a lower profit margins allowed all car producers outfitting factories.
